What are your plans for Cinco de Mayo this year?
Tutors, students, and staff members at Literacy Volunteers will be watching the leader board at giveGreater.org as the 36-hour online-giving event kicks off!
Beginning at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, May 5th through 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6th, you can get in on the action, too, by visiting giveGreater.org.
The Great Give is an online-only giving campaign for non-profits in the New Haven area. In addition to reaching new advocates and funders, the Great Give campaign also awards prizes to the organizations that reach specific milestones (most new donors) and goals (most donations made in the first hour of the campaign) thanks to The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven and the Valley Community Foundation.
Literacy Volunteers plans to strategically target NEW donors (those individuals who have never donated to Literacy Volunteers before) in order to spread awareness about our organization and our mission.
This April, look for exciting video content and campaign information on our social media sites, including Facebook and Twitter.

The annual outreach to our donor friends is in full swing, with a goal of $17,000. This opportunity to help Literacy Volunteers is extremely important to the 2014-15 budget and every contribution, no matter how small or large, is appreciated.
Please consider giving the gift of literacy this holiday season! It will make a difference in the life of someone who is struggling with reading, writing or speaking in English.Contributions dated by 12/31/14 can be taken as tax deductions on your 2014 tax return. And donations received at Literacy Volunteers by 2/28/15 will be matched by the CT State Dept of Education at the support rate of 64.23% for donations for New Haven and 60.74% for the Meriden area. This increases the value of every private donation to help fund literacy programs in our communities.
