If you are interested in becoming a volunteer literacy tutor, take a look at the “How to Volunteer” section to find the schedule of Tutor Orientation and Tutor Training sessions. Then fill out a Tutor Application and send it in to us. We will be in touch with you!

From the NORTH (Hamden, North Haven, etc) via I-91 and I-95

Follow I-91 south to I-95, following signs to New York City.
Take Exit 45 (this is the Boulevard, Route 10).
Continue straight ahead.
At the 3rd stoplight turn left into the New Haven Career Center.
Park in Visitors’ Parking areas.

From the SOUTH (West Haven, Milford etc) via I-95

Follow I-95 north towards New Haven.
Take Exit 44 (Kimberly Avenue).
At end of exit ramp continue to the stoplight. This is Boulevard, Route 10.
Turn left onto Boulevard.
At the 3rd stoplight turn left into the New Haven Career Center.
Park in Visitors’ Parking areas

From the EAST (East Haven, Branford etc) via I-95

Follow I-95 west towards New Haven
Cross Q bridge. Continue south towards New York City.
Take Exit 45 (this is the Boulevard, Route 10).
Continue straight ahead.
At the 3rd stoplight turn left into the New Haven Career Center.
Park in Visitors’ Parking areas.

From WEST (Westville, Derby etc) via Route 34

Follow Route 34 (Derby Ave) to the Boulevard.
Turn right on Boulevard and continue straight ahead.
Cross Route 1 (stoplight).
At next stoplight turn right into the New Haven Career Center.
Park in Visitors’ Parking areas.

From DOWNTOWN NEW HAVEN

Take Whalley Avenue (or North Frontage Road) west to Boulevard.
Turn left on Boulevard and continue straight ahead
Cross Route 1 (stoplight).
At next stoplight take right into the Career Center parking lot.

From NEW HAVEN

Take I-91 north.
Get off at Exit 17 (Route 15 & 691 West)
You will be on Route 5 very briefly.
Get off at Exit 68 West (691 West)
Take 691 West to the first exit (Exit 8, Broad Street)
Turn left at the bottom of the ramp.
Follow Broad Street to the second traffic light, Liberty Street.
Turn right on Liberty.
Go through one traffic light, to the next stop sign (Caitlin Street)
Turn right on Caitlin.
Go to first stop sign. This is Miller Street.
Turn right. The Library will be on your right.
Park on the street or in the parking lot behind the library.
The entrance to the library is on Miller Street.

From the NORTH

Take 91 south to 691, which comes before the Meriden East Main Street exit.
Follow 691 to first exit (Exit 8, Broad Street) and proceed as above.
From I-84 East: Take Route I-691 west towards Meriden.
Proceed to exit 8 = Broad Street.
At the end of the ramp, turn towards Meriden downtown, and proceed as above.
